Enfield SMLE Mk.V .303 Trials Rifle

This rare Mk V Short Magazine Lee Enfield rifle appears to be in superb unissued condition with serial number A3797, particularly as there is evidence of it being sent to India. It is the best example that I have ever seen and apart from a very small loss at the heel of the stock, and some slight loss of finish to the charger guide, nose cap and magazine, the rifle is in near perfect condition. Excellent five groove rifling showing no signs of use.

Price: £2500 [FAC / RFD Required]

Mannlicher Schoenaur Stutzen in 8×56 with Rare early Karl Kahles 4x Scope.

A fine example of the 1908 addition to the Mannlicher Schoenaur range of sporting rifles in the very popular full stocked Stutzen form with a 20” barrel and double set trigger. Barrel mounted with a ramped bead foresight and open rear sights, standing leaf and folding 300 metre leaf. A tang mounted aperture sight is also fitted, recessed into the tang.

Fitted with a good rare early Karl Kahles telescopic sight marked “J.OH SPRINGER’s ERBEN IN WIEN”, also “TELORAF 4” Serial No.1693. Kahles was the pioneer of rifle scopes, founded in Vienna in 1898, the oldest existing riflescope manufacturer in the world. In 1900, Karl Robert Kahles introduced the TELORAR, which is widely recognized as the first commercially successful manufactured riflescope.  The low serial number indicates it was manufactured during the early years of production between 1900 and 1910, corresponding to the age of the rifle. With Graduations for 100 and 200 metres, and quickly demountable mounts which allow the use of the open and aperture sight to be used with the scope sight fitted.

The rifle is in excellent condition retaining most of its original finish and a good bore, the scope optics are very clear and scope fitted with reticule similar to No.4.

Price: £2600 [Section 58(2) – Obsolete Calibre – No Licence Required]
