Refund and Returns Policy

Overview

Returns & Refunds Policy

Aldhurst Arms

This policy sets out your rights and our obligations under UK consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, and reflects the legal restrictions applicable to firearms and ammunition.

1. General Overview

Due to the nature of the goods we sell, including firearms, ammunition, and controlled items, certain statutory rights differ from standard distance-selling rules. All sales are subject to UK firearms legislation and licensing requirements.

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.

2. Firearms, Ammunition & Controlled Items

2.1 No Automatic Right to Cancel (Distance Sales)

Under Regulation 28 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations, the 14-day cooling-off period does not apply to:

  • Firearms (including antique, modern, Section 1, Section 2, and Section 7 firearms)

  • Ammunition or primers

  • Any item requiring a firearms or shotgun certificate

  • Custom-ordered, specially sourced, or licence-specific items

Once a firearm or controlled item has been transferred, entered onto a certificate, or collected, the sale is considered complete and non-returnable, except where the item is faulty or misdescribed.

3. Faulty or Misdescribed Items (Consumer Rights Act 2015)

3.1 Your Rights

If an item is:

  • Faulty

  • Not as described

  • Not of satisfactory quality

  • Not fit for purpose

you may be entitled to a remedy under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

3.2 Remedies

Depending on the circumstances, remedies may include:

  • Repair

  • Replacement (where legally possible)

  • Refund (full or partial)

Firearms and controlled items must be returned via an authorised RFD and must not be transferred or used once a fault is identified.

4. Antique Firearms

Antique firearms are sold as collectors’ items, not for use.

  • All antique firearms are described to the best of our knowledge and experience.

  • Age-related wear, patina, or historical repairs are not considered faults.

  • Returns will only be accepted where an antique firearm is materially misdescribed.

Proof, provenance, and legal status are assessed at the time of sale.

5. Non-Controlled Items (Accessories, Clothing, Optics, etc.)

For items that are not firearms or controlled goods:

  • You may cancel within 14 days of receipt (distance sales only)

  • Items must be unused, in original condition and packaging

  • Return postage costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item is faulty

Refunds will be issued within 14 days of receipt of the returned item.

6. Deposits & Special Orders

  • Deposits placed on firearms or special orders are non-refundable

  • This includes items sourced specifically to meet license conditions or customer specifications

  • If we are unable to supply the item, any deposit paid will be refunded in full

7. Transfers, Shipping & Returns of Firearms

All firearm returns:

  • Must be arranged in advance

  • Must be transferred via a Registered Firearms Dealer

  • Must comply with all UK firearms legislation

We cannot accept unauthorised or unlawful returns.

8. Refund Method

Refunds will be issued using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
Refunds may be adjusted to reflect any handling, transfer, or administrative costs incurred.
